Building Necks

So I have been busy building a few necks. Two from maple and one from Acasia Melanoxylon (Blackwood). All from timber I milled myself. Here an overdose of photos of the process: Here the Blackwood in its raw state. http://superaxe.vanpolanenpetel.net/TheSupposedStringMeister/wp-content/uploads/2017/...

Workshop

Major achievement - I can now see my workbench again :D so guitar building can start once more. It is not super tidy yet, but at least I can now also see the floor and know where my tools are... The templates will ultimately be hanging on the wall next to the drawings. http://superaxe.vanpolanenpete...

Making a new nut for a Gretsch 6120

The Gretsch 6120 DSW comes with a standard brass nut. Sadly enough the nut on this guitar was 'buggered'. Some DIY selver must have a had a go at with a chainsaw or so judging by the look of the string slots. The effect was that the guitar just did not stay in tune. http://superaxe.vanpolanenpetel.n...

Refretting a Yamaha APX-10

Here some photos of a nice Yamaha APX-10 from the early nineties. It needed a refret, so some pics here. Here a couple of photos of the frets how they were before - not much left.... http://i1144.photobucket.com/albums/o500/jvpp/Yamaha%20APX-10/APX10%2002%20-%20Before%202%20-%20DSCN2330_zpsj1eqda1y....

How to fix a broken Yamaha case handle

The original Yamaha case handle does not always last the distance. Here I have documented one way to fix these broken handles. It will only work for the handles that have brackets as per the photo below. There are a number of different cases Yamaha supplied with different handle attachments. http://...

Re: SA-50 KNOB

Hi Nandom, These tops do get lost at times. Parts are pretty hard to get. The most obvious, but potentially expensive way, is to buy a 'rundown' Superaxe model. Strip it for parts you need and then sell the rest. The problem is that you don't often see a nice 'rundown' for an attractive price. What ...

Hello from Mr Stringmeister

Hello visitor,

If you read this you have come to a forum that is a "work in progress". I am setting this up to compliment my website about the early Yamaha Superaxes.

Hopefully you have a passion for these guitars too. Any suggestions on Categories I should add are most welcome.

Cheers
Sean
